We have udsed SoftDent for about 18 years and have lived and grown with the software. However, like most software in existence the end user rarely uses the programming to its fullest capabilities. We have always been happy with SoftDent yet we did not utilize the clinical part of the program. This was due to many reasons - namely training time and software limitations.
About 5 years ago we attempted to go chartless on our own and the difficulties were significant, the end result being that we gave up on implementing the “chartless” practice using the software alone. In 2006 we set the goal for 2007 to go chartless. One of the significant changes with the renewed attempt was to use the help of a Practice Management Consultant, namely, Adele Reische from Synergy Practice Management.
We gave ourselves one year and she came to our office monthly for a full day of training dedicated to office systems and software utilization. It was important to give ourselves ample time to digest new information, utilizing the software and how it changes our day to day working environment.
The best part was Adele’s constant support and enthusiasm, which was contagious for our team members.
They wanted to change because of the “light at the end of the tunnel” that Adele kept showing us. The year has come and gone and we are 90% chartless. We still have some “issues” but only because now we are looking at more things the software can do for us. Every one of the team members are now thinking outside of the box. Instead of us working with the software we are looking and exploring how the software can work for us.
